Four stones and four exceptional Central Saint Martin’s students are the latest to star in Theo Fennell’s young designers and jewellers “Gilded Youth” programme. Selecting four talented students in their final year of Central Saint Martins’ BA Jewellery Course in December last year, Theo presented each student with a rare stone: An Ideal Cushion Cut Forevermark Diamond, a Sugar Loaf Cabochon Sapphire, a Square Cushion Cut Pink Sapphire, and a Black Pearl.
All part of Theo’s ongoing mission to support and nurture the master jewellers of the future, the students were then set the task of incorporating their stone into a piece of jewellery, overseeing the entire process and working with the award-winning craftsmen in his workshop. Now being exhibited (and available to purchase) at the Fulham Road Flagship Store for one month from Monday 16th May, the results are sensational. From a microcosm of the universe to the recreation of London’s erratic construction sites, each piece is truly unique: a work of art in its own right with the most unique of stones at its heart. – Theo Fennell
